Best things we did were to teach the kids to play defense, crash the boards, and run for the outlet pass. That was the most productive (a lot of missed shots at that age).
But once you are in the half-court you need to do something to help the kids feel like everyone is playing imo.
We basically had two post kids and two at the free throw line/top of the key (somewhere in there). The post kids would screen up and the free throw line kids would head for the hoop. The only call was right or left.
Eventually we started doing double screens on the guy guarding the ball at the top of the key. If you have one kid who is a good ball handler/shooter that is effective and it is easy to teach too.
