It totally depends on where on the field teams went for it on 4th down. If they're doing it on their own side of the 50 yard line then yes, that is disconcerting. But if they are past the 50 yard line in every case and perhaps they have a terrible punter, are worried about getting a kick blocked or worried about your return man, they may feel it's worth the risk. It's also one thing if it's 4th and less than 2 yards or if it's 4th and 5 yards or more. Just because teams have made a high percentage of 4th down conversions does not directly equate to your defense being poor. It can be situational where it has a high chance of success and it's a calculated risk. I have watched of the BYU games this year that were televised here and my perception is not that you have a bad defense. You started out 5-0 and reached the Top Ten. You don't do that if you're bad. I really think you just had a poor game against Boise. It happens. I don't think they are better than BYU, they just played better that day. Baylor is a really good team and there's no shame in losing to them in Waco. I doubt that you lose many (if any) more games this year.
