But you absolutely raise a critically overlooked point about the Lord of the Rings. Frodo would have failed multiple times even before reaching Mount Doom were it not for Sam.

On the Harry Potter side, that would have been a sophisticated twist for what essentially is youth fiction. But there probably was some room for at least a little bit more complexity.

As for the end of Game of Thrones, hot mess. It wasn't fanfiction, It was inconsistent to character arcs, I have no idea what the showrunners thought they were doing.

I get that the entire series was built upon unexpected twists of the blade. But when everybody on the planet is looking like this... the plane may not have been landed successfully.
