Just got out of Dune. Watched it on a massive IMAX screen. The movie was abrasive, hash, and beautiful. The director uses sound and light to force the viewers to experience the harshness of the planet and the political environment. It was incredible. I can understand how the director would have been so upset if this movie didn't have a theatrical release as was once planned. Watching this film on a couch with the average AV setup would be a SIGNIFICANT drop off, as I mention before he relies on those audio visuals so heavily to make the viewers feel intensity. Some might find it to be too much. I'll admit there were a few times were I was in that boat, but then reflecting back on it as a whole, the massiveness of it all makes a lot of sense together.
It's great, but go with that in mind. It's not a Marvel Movie, it doesn't move quickly, there are no witty quips, and for that fact it's refreshing.
