Specialized is a solid company, with a long history. They are a tad overpriced as a result, and aren't considered cool by the crowd that likes more edgy or indy stuff. I don't ride a Specialized bike, but a lot of my accessories are specialized, including shoes, seat, gloves, light, etc. I wouldn't hesitate if I was in the market and was looking for that type of bike.
