I was in the student section at the Delta Center that game and didn't think anyone had mal intent. It was a big game (probably the deciding factor in getting into the tourney that year) and he was a great player who left the team, so we all booed every time he touched the ball. It was notably disruptive to their team and Bobik didn't play all that well.

I've heard there were some legitimately offensive things said to him and his family, and if that's the case, shame on whoever did that. But students were on the other side of the stadium and mostly it was just a student section being a student section in my view.
