fallen. It was a complete disaster and embarrassment on and off the field. Bronco came in and immediately fixed it, and had an amazing first 7 seasons, and never had even one losing season. That is no small feat. I don't believe any other BYU coach can say that. Did he end up plateauing? Sure. And, I think it was good for everyone to part ways when he did. But the man worked wonders when he took over the program.
And he's doing the same thing at Virginia. No other coach in UVA's history--not even their all-time hero, George Welsh, put the program on such a trajectory during their first six years as Bronco has at UVA during his first six years. Bronco is an absolutely phenomenal coach at turning programs around and producing very good teams. I don't know that he can consistently produce great teams. Maybe he can. He struggled to do so at BYU, but he is absolutely top-tier at building up very bad programs to a good/very good level. We were very lucky to have him.
