2014 — Washington State Freshman (Redshirt)
2015 — Brigham Young R-Freshman (Sat out 2 academic semesters per transfer rules, Squally loses year of eligibility irregardless of whether he plays bowl game or not)
2016 — Brigham Young R-Sophomore
2017 — Brigham Young R-Junior
2018 — Brigham Young R-Senior
Bronco and staff recruited Squally thinking he would burn his freshman year on the scout team all year (Like Max Hall in 2006), but as a mid year transfer he was eligible to play in the Vegas bowl. Since Squally was already losing the year of eligibility anyway, they let the kid play.
Most importantly though, you must really think that Mendenhall and his coaching staff were EXTREMELY petty if you think they burned a year of eligibility on Squally. . . Just to stick it to BYU admin and fans? I have worked in the prison setting plenty, and not even most of the inmates are that petty or asinine.
Like in all seriousness, you would have to think Bronco was okay messing with his player's happiness and life to take a cheapshot at BYU admin or fans, that is a very unhealthy line of thinking.
2014 articles looking forward
"He will sit out the 2015 season per NCAA transfer rules and then have three years to play three season starting in 2016. He announced his transfer decision on December 13, 2014 after an on-campus visit."
"Canada redshirted at Washington State this year and left the Palouse this past October. Will be a redshirt-freshman in 2015 at BYU but will have to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules. That will give Canada three years to play three in Provo."
