I don't agree with them appropriating the U.S.S Salt Lake City like it is their personal ship. It belongs to everyone. I am all for them appropriating anything named the 'uss ute'.

I would feel the same way if there were a U.S.S Provo. That does not mean it would be BYU's pet ship simple because their campus is in Provo. I think it limits the honor paid to the servicemen and women in both cases.

It is because it feels like them celebrating the ship is more about them celebrating themselves and nothing about the sailors who served on that ship.
