Well, you'd like to think that...
My daughter was experiencing severe abdominal pain earlier this year. Multiple hospital visits, including an exploratory surgery, couldn't figure it out. We were referred to a general surgeon about possible appendix issues. He decided she was just constipated, even though she told him she had regular bowel movements.

He, of course, didn't listen because she's a college student, so what did she know? He prescribed some colon prep, which she took following his advice. She had an allergic reaction to it. Her throat closed off and she couldn't breathe. We rushed her to the ER YET AGAIN (I think that was the 8th hospital visit at that point this year).

Pro-tip: if you ever want IMMEDIATE attention in the ER, with no waiting around at all, go in with anaphylaxis. They got her in immediately, and treated for the reaction.

And, of course, that wasn't the issue causing the abdominal pain. That was later solved by a gastroenterologist, but I don't know what the source of the issue was.
