I know. 31 points. 400 yards. But consider...
BYU was missing 5 game one starters before kickoff. Multiple others in the original two deep didn't play. Seven(SEVEN!) players got defensive stats on Saturday who were not recruited out of high school and arrived at BYU as walk-ons.
On the other side of the ball the Trojan offense played 5 players rated as 4 stars coming out of high school. These players could have played anywhere in the country. The other starters were no lower than 3 stars.
The opening kickoff went for 75 yards. Defense held them to 3 points.
BYU lost the turnover battle 2-0. Usually means you lost the game.
After the second pick in the 4th quarter with 8 minutes left the defense went out there and forced a 3 and out getting the ball back with time for the offense to win the game.
The game ended with the defense making a stand in the shadow of their own end zone snuffing out USC.
With a defense held together with gum and bailing wire they won in the Coleseum. Give the man some credit.
