It’s going to come down to BYU vs Michigan St for the last NY6 spot and does the committee have the cajones to have one idle team leapfrog another? Especially BYU? BYU will be 10th next week if it doesn’t go past MSU
Here are my projections
Michigan beats Iowa
Georgia beats Alabama
Utah beats Oregon
Oklahoma St beats Baylor
Cincinnati beats Houston
Wake Forest beats Pittsburgh
Playoff teams
Georgia (SEC champ)
Michigan (B1G champ)
Cincinnati (G5 qualifier)
Oklahoma St (Big 12 champ)
Rest of NY6
Wake Forest (ACC champ)
Ohio St (filing B1G rose bowl slot)
Baylor (filling big 12 spot in fiesta)
Notre Dame (at large)
Utah (Pac 12 Champ)
Ole Miss (at large)
Alabama (at large)
Michigan St or BYU
The absolute only thing that could bump BYU over them is if the committee sees Utah win the pac 12 and bumps BYU up based on our beating them. BYU will be either 9 or 10 if this plays out and Michigan St will be 9 or 10
This is what it will come down to IMO. If Alabama upsets Georgia that would be so good for BYU because it would knock Oklahoma St out of the playoff and into the fiesta bowl and it would be two teams between the three of BYU, Baylor (backup qb), and Michigan St for the NY6
