Negotiating a deal is fine, but I don't think your position is as powerful as
you suggest. Sure he is able to monetize his recovery efforts, but he doesn't need your car to do it. Additionally, your position if you can't recover your car is worse than his position if he chooses not to recover your car for a bad deal negotiation. Would you be willing to leave your vehicle where it is, risk a littering fine and worse from the state/fed, or file off the VINs and abandon your vehicle for good? Would you be able to find a reasonable alternative in your time constraints to meet your price demands? I seriously doubt you could negotiate a free deal just because he is creative enough to film a video about the recovery. He also has real costs and risks associated with the recovery that has to be covered.
