Some of my thoughts - just to not start a new thread.
st - I feel bad for Baxter, it's gotta be disheartening. But I think his legs are made of the same stuff as the leg lamp in A Christmas Story - fragile. BYU is going to miss him a ton if he really is out - now starting the 3rd string player at center - who is a true freshman. With a true freshman as the backup. Not a great situation, though I do like Traore and Atiki. Also - BYU really did miss George.

nd - UVU is a good (though maybe not great) team. I like Connor Harding. I'm happy for him. Would've preferred that he score 40 and BYU win, but it's hard to dislike the UVU players - they played hard and pulled it out. Crazy that this is their, what, 4th overtime win? Wow. Congrats to them. Their big guy is a BEAST.

rd - BYU's defense has helped them a lot to begin the season, but they've got to figure out their scoring too. When the other team plays good defense and you're having a hard time scoring too, then just playing good defense won't win the game.

th - Speaking of "good defense" - that was a rough game. Refs let them play physical. And while I would prefer winning - these are the kinds of games that help prepare you for the future, including the NCAA tourney. Things get physical sometimes, you have to figure out how to play through and get shots in spite of that. I'm OK with some adversity and a loss early on in the season.

th - Lohner started last year slowly before he found his shot and began to do much offensively. I hope that he figures it out again this year - BYU is going to need him. That aside, dude has earned playing time with his hustle and rebounding. Hopefully he figures out the scoring soon.

th - Knight. I love his hustle too, he's definitely been a good contributor who has earned more time. Love that he started hitting some shots this last game. Seems like he was described as a scorer and slasher who could get to the rim against anyone - I'd really like to start seeing some of that. With the physical defense played last night, that gets more difficult. But it seems like BYU really struggled to do more than pass it around outside - they need someone who can penetrate and kick if they want open shots and to break down a defense.

th - This is CB. So I expect to see plenty of posts about how BYU should never play UVU again. What? Don't be a baby! As stated in #4 above - this is a good game for BYU to play in preparation for league and eventually the tourney. So they beat us - so what. Get better. Beat them next time. It's silly to say BYU has nothing to gain (or whatever other excuses will be made). Play the game. Win it. Put on your big boy pants and don't be a baby who wants to take your ball and go home if you lose.
