Early in September I decided I wanted to attend the USC game. Looked at StubHub and available tickets were high up in the corners, about $70. Decided to go through BYU for about $90 in the visitor's section. More expensive, but hey it was like a donation to the Athletic Department, right?
We thoroughly enjoyed the game and ultimate victory. However...
In retrospect I think I gained almost nothing by going through BYU:
-They didn't tell us where our seats were until a week before the game.
-I think this was to give as much time for higher up CC members to buy so they could assign them better seats.
-In spite of buying early, we were in the furthest away (but lower) section.
-Because USC sucked this year, waiting to buy from StubHub would have been far cheaper for better seats.
-In the Coliseum the visitor section seats were so far from the field they are in a different ZIP code.
-The one positive was it was energizing to be among a lot of BYU fans.
At half time we moved over a couple of sections so we were even with the goal line, about 30 rows up. Great position to see Hill's TD catch.
If I go to an away game in the future, I think I'll avoid using BYU as a purchasing agent.
