That is the game when I thought to myself. . . BYU is not going to make it to the NY6. 🙁

With Penn State leading 20-17 in the 3rd quarter , the stage was set that baring an Iowa victory over Michigan during the Big10 CCG, BYU was going to the Fiesta bowl, and there would be plenty of wiggle room in the process.

Now, after all is said and done, BYU looks like it will most likely end up ranked #11 in the final polls, Due to ACC champ and Pac-12 Champ automatic berths, the last at-large berth will likely be the #10 ranked team.

What makes it worse is both the Big 12 and the Big 10 now each have barely enough bowl eligible teams to slot a team in the GRB. . . and I hoped that would be a consolation prize.
Big12 >> With 2 teams in the NY6, GRB is their 7th bowl slot. They have 7 bowl eligible teams.
Big10 >> With 3 teams in the NY6, GRB is their 9th bowl slot. They have 9 bowl eligible teams.


I am hoping that I am wrong, but it looks like unless ESPN wants to move us or another team around to make a better game in the ESPN list of lower tier bowls with no specific tie ins, we are likely going to the Independance bowl aginst UTSA. While that well be a good game, it is sad that we were so close to being in the NY6. If OkState running back had powered through the one guy to beat at the goal line, or if Penn State would have beat Michigan state last week. Sadly, we are the best team in the Mtn and Pacific time zones, but we will likely play Dec 18th.

When we are in the Big 12 conference, atleast we will make it to the Alamo bowl or Cheezit bowl for coming up just short of our NY6 hopes.
