I have it on very good authority that Kalani was unimpressive in his interview with the Oregon brass this week. Specifically, he was unable to articulate a vision for what the Oregon football program would look like if he was the coach, and he was unable to articulate what it would take at Oregon to maintain a strong football program over the long term. They are no longer interested in hiring him. So, that’s the good news. I’ve also been told that if Chip Kelly leaves UCLA, Dave Aranda wants that job. In fact, I believe he’s waiting to sign an extension with Baylor until he sees what happens at UCLA. Apparently, Aranda grew up a UCLA fan and it’s actually his dream job, believe it or not. I am good friends with a Southern California sports radio personality, and I got all of this from him last night.
