When our Christmas tree was tacked to the wall in the shape of a tree one year
because we couldn’t afford a tree. Ended up being a great missionary Christmas tree one year though.
And…we didn’t have that many tough years. We were definitely (upper?) middle class most years. Divorce wrecks finances for a family though. And pretty much everyone in the US is well off comparatively (both globally and historically).

Too bad you didn't go to my kid's schools. Lunch is free for all students. I don't know how they do it, but its all free
