wanted to be there, they just couldn't swing it with their work schedules.
When I was old enough I started working. I umpired baseball games, cooked fries at Jack in the Box, and eventually got a job at our city's pool. I almost always paid for things on my own (i.e. haircuts, clothing, food at school, etc..). Instead of going to sports camps or playing in competitive leagues I worked/did leadership at school. It worked out because I got in to BYU, but I wish I had the opportunity to play more competitive baseball because I was really good at it. I only had the opportunity to play on school teams because it was cheap.
