10¢ for bread and some ham when I was a kid. Dad provided just fine.
My Dad taught us to be frugal but we had plenty to eat. I actually ate better from home than the 35¢ subsidized lunch offered at school. I remember an FHE about it. All I had to do was prepare it.
I did envy the other kids on pizza day though.

Too bad you didn't go to my kid's schools. Lunch is free for all students. I don't know how they do it, but its all free
