away from marriage, from having kids, and from religion. People look to their employer or the government for meaning, for their social life and support - all things traditionally provided by family and religion. When these people want to retire, they may have their 401k in tact, but who will they spend time with? Who will watch over them as their health deteriorates? In my opinion, this trend plays into the politics of growing the government.
I have also been in the "bring your whole self to work" culture and notice that it includes almost everything except religion, which has to form special groups outside the normal work environment to associate with each other, but you cannot talk about your beliefs with coworkers like you can your love of animals or even your sex life (if you feel so inclined).
I will say, though, that productivity and hitting timelines still reign supreme where I work. It can be grind with little sympathy for missing objectives. People who don't like that kind of pressure end up leaving for a 9 to 5 job.
