Not so, and we all know it. Ty was out of his depth and all were glad he left
Ty was also pushed on Sitake, and Kalani made it clear from day 1 that he wasn’t a fan of Ty. During Sitake’s postgame remarks, it often felt as if Ty was doing his own thing and wasn’t part of what Sitake wanted to do. The distancing became more and more apparent as the offense struggled.

The treatment of Tuiaki (who has defenses that rank in the 80s or worse on almost every key defensive metric and gave us big-brained quotes about getting “pressure” by dropping more people into coverage) has been completely different than the treatment of Ty. It’s clear that Tuiaki is Kalani’s guy, just as it was clear that Sitake didn’t want Detmer.

I’m not defending Ty—I’m coworkers with an offensive player from the Ty and Grimes eras, and Ty sounds like a likable guy and a disastrous coach. But I am pointing out that the campaign to fire Ty started almost immediately, and was eventually successful. With Tuiaki still here (and giving results that are nearly as bad) it sure seems like he’s less fireable than Ty. Ty proved to be not all that untouchable, while Tuiaki is becoming a fixture.
