BYU shot 43 and 36% for the game which isn’t great but it isn’t terrible. USF shot 32 and 13%. BYU plays great defense.
At the half, they were getting out rebounded by 10. At the end of the game, USF still had the edge by 2 but BYU was all over the boards, none bigger than Lohners offensive rebound late in the game.
BYU had 8 turnovers at half compared to 6 by USF. The game ended at 12 for BYU and 11 for USF. BYU took better care of the ball.
This team is not a really flashy team and sometimes is very frustrating to watch but Pope does a great job making adjustments and getting the most out of an undersized team. Even with the lack of height, I can remember a BYU team that blocks as many shots as this one. They are 15-4 after going 2-1 against the best teams in the WCC. @St Marys will be a tough but winnable game and at home against USF will be a tough game as well. Chalking up the home game to Gonzaga as a loss but BYU is set up for another tournament birth come March.
