Re the recent Charleston/Savannah debate.
First of all, there shouldn't be a debate. Both cities are national treasures, and should be visited by every American. There is so much history jampacked into both. If you haven't been, go!

But, I was in Charleston this past week, and it reminded me of the recent conversation here about which one was the better visit.

Charleston is the better family vacation spot. It has 3x the number of things to do for a family. In fact, there's no real comparison. If you have a family and you need enough programming for 3+ days, Charleston has plenty, and it's all really cool, and varied.

But if you're looking for a weekend, especially with the Mrs, then I think that belongs to Savannah. As cool as Charleston is, it does not possess the charm that Savannah does. Very few towns in this country do. I would highly recommend trying to stay in old town.

Both cities are must-visit cities.
