The driver had Autopilot engaged when the Model S exited the freeway and the Tesla went through a red light without slowing down, killing both people in the car that it hit. The driver is being charged with felony manslaughter. These are the first felony charges for misuse of Tesla Autopilot.
Seems to me that Tesla has a messaging issue. Every other semi-autonomous system that I know if has strict requirements on how it can be used. GM Super Cruise, for example, tracks your eyes and disengages if you look away from the road for too long. But Tesla seems to let people set it and let 'er rip, which has led to several crashes like this one.
