I assume that if I have more dealers I'd have a better chance of finding one not engaging in the shenanigans.

I also assume that if we switched away from dealers, to a fulfillment center model, we would be able to select those options from the factory or choose not to add them and have clear pricing. When dealers add these things it is often a take it or leave it deal... especially now when the dealer has all of the power.

That is why this conversation started, if you follow the OP and the linked threads. OEMs are pushing back and there is hope that it will somehow unravel the dealer model.
