My buddy said yesterday that their basement renter who parks in their driveway backed into this basketball hoop. His kids had it lowered and the renter wasn’t paying attention and rammed right into it when backing out. Now the renter is asking the landlord to pay $5000 to fix his car saying it’s their fault. My buddy has them under a contract that clearly states that they Are not liable for any damage to the renters vehicles. My buddy feels bad his kids lowered the hoop and didn’t put it back but doesn’t feel like he should be held liable. What do you think? Who should have to pay for the damage?
