Roger's son, Robbie, was the primary class one year older than mine.
I recall sitting in sharing time in primary one day and Roger was sitting on the row behind me as a primary teacher. Roger was an assistant coach at BYU at the time, but to a 9-year-old who loved BYU sports, I felt like he was about as famous as Ronald Reagan at the time. After a pretty good B-ball win the night before, I was as giddy as a school girl when Roger got my attention in during singing in primary and extended his hand. I was amazed and super excited that he would recognize a young BYU fan and want to give him a high five during primary. I obliged and smacked his had with all the exuberance of a star-struck 9-year-old to which Roger politely said, 'no, no, can I just borrow your pen for a second?'. He noticed the pen I kept in my scripture bag and needed something to mark the role. He marked the role and I went back to being a 9 year old.

I am still a fan of the Reids and BYU sports.
