CougarBoard, your help is needed to save the life of a grandchild of one of our own

DodgerMike's three-year-old grandson, Damian, has a rare genetic disorder called acid sphingomyelinase deficiency (ASMD), also known as Niemann-Pick Disease or "Baby Alzheimer's". Severe cases of the disease typically lead to death by age three. Because Damian's case is more "mild", he has a greater chance to live a couple years longer, but if nothing is done to stop or slow the progression of the disease, he will likely die before his 5th birthday. Also, any neurological damage incurred likely will not be able to be reversed.

Two potential treatments are on the horizon that are showing some promise, but additional funding is necessary in order to move toward a clinical trial. A total of $3 million needs to be raised by June in order to speed up the current research in time to save Damian's life. Thanks to over fifteen thousand donations, we've already been able to raise over $700,000. But time is running out.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

First of all, if you're able to donate, please go directly to the GoFundMe page. Every little bit counts.

Second, we're hoping that there may be some social media influencers who would be willing to help get the word out. If you or somebody you know has a significant social media following and may be willing to help, please send a boardmail directly to DodgerMike, and he will provide additional details.

Damian is growing weaker. The video in the GoFundMe page shows his signature "wave", but he is no longer able to do that. Please help us move quickly as we continue to work and pray for a miracle to save Damian's life, and the life of every child who suffers from this horrible disease. To be clear, these funds will be a blessing not only to Damian, but to every child currently fighting the disease, and any in the future who may fight it.

If you'd like to get to know more about Damian, his parents, and the disease, take a look at this clip from The Dr. Oz show last month:
