bringing a guy in (that's not even the same class as your starter) is not

"not showing faith." It's bringing in depth/competition. You can still show faith/confidence/whatever in a player if your recruit someone that the media is saying is better. Otherwise, you'd only recruit obviously worse QBs (which would be dumb) or NO QBs until the guy you have "annointed" leaves.
