I got 30% middle of last year. Just asked for it. I report to CEO, so just put it on his table and said something to the effect of "This is where the market is for people like me right now." Now that strategy may not work for everyone, but the reality is that you don't have to leave to get more. And if your company says you do, you should call their bluff and go.
The reality is, with the growth in remote job availability (and especially in tech) the local market has to compete with SF/NYC/DC type money.
