Anyone else puzzled as to why byu offered a JC corner?

Currently BYU has:

Mandell
Hayes
Harper
Ellis
Herron
Robinson
Christensen
Willis

Most of those guys have played and played well. Most will also be here in 2 years

It also looks like he is quite small
