1. As a fundamental matter, it's a good idea to not throw away things. You never know when you might need a empty aquarium even though you don't have fish, a typewriter in case the internet breaks, or wrapping paper. You can't just buy wrapping paper anywhere.

2. People like to serve. Accordingly, don't prep too much--you're just robbing someone of blessings. They would love to empty drawers of your underwear, pack your food, pull clothes out of the closet, dissemble your media center, and disconnect your gaming computer. You need to leave plenty for people to do.

3. It's great if refreshments are provided so that the people doing the least can eat the most.

4. At least once you need to pull the old, "F-R-A-G-I-L-E. Hmmm, must be Italian...." No one has heard that before.

5. You should make others feel less awkward by getting into a domestic dispute in front of everyone. Listen, we all have problems, and sometimes it helps others when they know you have real problems, too.

6. You should not clean your house. Ever. People won't think it's gross, so why waste your time?
