They are smart and really flighty. The dogs have learned to point from a ways away but even then the birds don't hold long enough to get a good shot.

We had three coveys pointed today and only one gave me a decent shot. We saw one other covey and it flushed wild before the dogs even got to it.

Most areas have pretty poor numbers. Here's hoping for a good spring with ideal nesting conditions.
