TIL Phoenix area golf courses use about the same amount of water everyday as
Contained in a Olympic sized pool. Most of it is pumped groundwater. I’m sitting by an Olympic sized pool as I write this, that’s an insane amount of water, about half a million gallons per day. We really need to rethink water usage in the West. It’s too hot and dry to waste hundreds of millions of gallons a day on farming and golf courses in AZ,NV, UT and NM.
