2019 begs to differ...
...it really depends on your roster and how your team works together. Much of that season was played with the following lineup:
1. Haws 6'4"
2. AB 6'2"
3. Jake 6'5"
4. Dalton or Zac 6'7"
5. Yoeli 6'8"

They were very positionless between the 1 and 3 positions and again between the 4 and 5's. Often Zac or Dalton defended the opposing low post player to keep Yoeli out of foul trouble. On offense Yoeli and Dalton or Zac flowed pretty freely between the post and playing on the perimeter and Dalton and Zac's ability to be a threat playing on the perimeter allowed BYU to run sets in the offense for Yoeli where they'd clear out a side for him to go one-on-one w/o extra defenders in the way or clogging the paint.

The ability of our role players to maintain great spacing, read the D (and react) and hit open 3's consistently forced opposing teams to go small with their lineups to be able to defend us. Go back and watch the BYU vs Gonzaga game in 2020 at the MC. Gonzaga big man Filip Petrusev ended up being WCC POY that season yet in that particular game he was a liability on the floor with the way Zac and Yoeli were spacing and how Zac was moving w/o the ball. Petrusev couldn't keep up and his defensive efficiency rating for the game was 132. Few realized having Petrusev on the floor was hurting his team.

A couple things hurt BYU teams the past 2 seasons offensively. One is we had way too many bigs that opposing bigs didn't need to respect on the perimeter (Haarms, Lohner, Harward, Lee, Baxter, Fouss, Atiki) so it allowed opposing teams to sag off and clog the paint or bring extra guys to help defend on our ball handlers. Second is our guards were more of the 2 guard types and not very good at the 1 position and facilitating. They were too focused on dribbling into their own shots and they didn't read and react and move the ball quickly enough to find open teammates and make the defense pay for doubling up.
