How have you gone about getting your kids into learning an instrument? Do you wait for them to express interest in one,
sign them up for piano lessons and tell them they have to do it, or what?
I didn't grow up in a family that played anything, but I would love for my kids to learn something.
What age did they normally start in your family?

Force them to learn music. Start them at the age they start to read.

I wish I would have learned one and have plans to when my boys aren't so little - I have very little uninterrupted time

It was expected I take lessons until I could play the hymns. I hated it at first

Yes, we force them to do piano. They are generally fine with it. We also make them join Orchestra or Band in 5th grade

That's the age it started for me growing up. I wish our kids had that.

I was forced to play piano or not allowed to play in sports. I wish I had been forced to play the guitar though. If

Well I didn’t have to, but then I wouldn’t have been able to play little league sports. Given I was superstar athlete,

Encourage them to take band in school. Especially if they've done some piano.
