I had no problem setting one up for myself last year to buy I-Bonds. Given the rate, I also wanted to set up my wife to buy more. However, after signing up her account wasn't approved and she needs to prove her identity basically. They want to use form FS 5444, on the form it says you need a "signature grantee" from a financial intuition that confirms your identity. The form explicitly says a notary cannot be used(who knows why). Anyway, she has tried several different banks and all of them have refused. Has anybody else found a solution?
