Currently, some of the requirements mandate that schools offer 14 sanctioned sports either 7 (M) and 7 (W) or 6(M) and 8 (W).

Schools must offer one sport for each gender during Fall, Winter, and Spring.

There set minimum number of games that must be played against D1 opponents.

There is also a minimum of financial aid available.

The NCAA will ceded all governance to the three divisions. The autonomous conferences have long complained that the NCAA made it too easy for schools to move up into Division 1.

I expect the Committee to raise some of the minimum requirements and that could encourage some schools to move out of D1.
