I now understand why a company will pay someone who gave their 2 weeks notice, to leave early...
Had a guy quit the company back in January because he felt he was deserved an "upper management, C level" position type, company said no and he gave a 4 weeks notice. 1 week after he left the company, we have been experiencing database connection issues, DNS issues, CPU spiking and the system unable to recover issues and it's been completely random. We've had so many people looking into this issue and nobody can figure out why it is happening or even how it's happening.

Well last week, there was a user/login found that appears to be logging in around the times that our system craps the bed. It's suspected that the person who quit back in January created a backdoor login and has been creating the problems we have been seeing... so now there is an investigation kicking off today to see if it's actually him. And yes, he would do this... he was the only one with access to set up a backdoor login like this. When he was here, his job was to keep the services up and running and to maintain the connections. And the guy had a massive ego... he was very unhinged... he would start fights in our morning stand up meetings for no dang reason at all. He'd pick a target and just go after them.

When the system would go down, he would somehow get "wind" of it and email the CEO to offer help in fixing the issue. We had all casually suspected he was behind it, but had absolutely no proof... now we may have it.

Mind you, he may have always had this login, assuming it's him... but now I understand why companies will let someone go the day that they give their 2 weeks notice and just pay them for the 2 weeks.

This sounds a bit similar to Coug’s story (KingDave, May 16, 2022 at 8:11pm)
