My dad was scammed. He's normally pretty smart, but not street smart
He got an email from a lady in his neighborhood whom he had met maybe once. They were on the same neighborhood email disti list, so it wasn't a surprise she had his email. She said she was out of town and needed to buy her kid some iTunes gift cards for a graduation present or something of the sort. He went to Costco and bought a few hundred dollars worth, sent over pictures of each, and then was going to send over the second batch, but he mentioned it to his wife who is smart and she put a stop to it. This time he redeemed the iTunes cards and then sent over images of the used cards.

Sometimes they trick smart people with good intentions.
