It will not be Utah State or Boise State or Coastal Carolina. They all have opponents for week 1 of 2023.

I will say this about USU. The games did not have to be canceled. USU has openings for BYU from 2025 on. They would have to be in the first 3 weeks of the season unless BOTH the Big 12 and MWC want to let them meet during General Conference weekend. The Big 12 likely did not allow for that opening, hence the series was canceled.

Boise State vs. BYU could resume in 2030 or if BSU is invited to the Big 12.

From what I am hearing, the most likely solution to the Tennessee opening will be a...wait for it...home and home with UNLV. I know, lame.

Some other possibilities that I have found...all the FBS schools that have an opening (beside UNLV) on week 1 of 2023.

Nebraska (Perhaps they want revenge)
