Alaska is both the westernmost and easternmost state

An inhabited island called Semisopochnoi stretches so far west it actually enters the eastern hemisphere

Antarctica is the biggest desert in the world. By definition a desert is an area of land that doesn’t get more than 10 inches of precipitation a year.
