When I was doing my MBA internship in the midwest one of the families in the ward were homeschoolers. Their kids (~8-13) were very good. Well behaved, could talk to adults as well as little kids. First family I knew that homeschooled and I was impressed.
Over the next 10 years I have met several others who also raised really good kids in that boat and did so for a variety of reasons (religious, political, educational). Were there a couple of odd balls? Sure, but no more than at public too since I was in youth callings probably for 6 years during that time.
So, long answer is no. Many reasons to choose it as an option, especially if private ($$$) is out of reach. Me? We homeschooled our 2 youngest in elementary when our schools shut down over COVID, keeping our Jr high kids in public. Sorry, but having a kindergartener on video for 5 hours a day is dumb. I'd encourage all kids to go to public high school but that's my take.
