Family in our ward homeschools and they are so far behind everyone else.
They started in regular school and the oldest repeated first or second grade. They blamed the teacher for not helping him enough.

With COVID, they all switched (3 kids, agreed 6-13) to homeschool.

The 11 and 13 year old boys can barely get through reading a verse of scripture in priesthood quorum, with help from just about everyone else.

The parents always talk about how they are doing so good in school and it's way better than regular school. We'll, yeah. You do worksheets for a couple hours a day and then have the rest of the day to play outside and ride bikes. But they still can't read.
