as a spectator, former player and parent of players in Davis County, there always seems to be a team or two from Utah County that looks light years ahead of others. Nothing wrong with not being great.
I'm sure feeder programs and general player sentiment plays a big role in it.
But, then, to find out more than a few of their starters are transferred in from competing/in-region schools is always baffling. I can't imagine a kid playing football at Syracuse his senior year and then switching to Layton for baseball in the spring and everyone acting like no big deal here. I feel like there'd be rioting in the streets.
In any case, the struggle is real for teams up north. Davis County has rarely produced a consistent State Champ in any sport save maybe Layton in Wrestling in the late 90's.
