in a remote area far from major cities, where they can detox (a bigger problem than most want to admit), receive medical treatment, get sunlight and fresh air, and learn skills that they most likely missed during elementary and high school. If we can commit people to hospitals, I see no reason why we shouldn't consider a more holistic and nature-orientated rehabilitation program.
But that would immediately be portrayed as some kind of Auschwitz by the opposition party and would probably offend 21st Century sensibilities as well.
So instead we deal with very obvious urban decay and then are made out to be racists for fleeing the cities for suburbs. It's not racial at all - I just want to live somewhere where my wife can go on a walk and feel safe, and where I can walk down the sidewalk without having to avoid human feces.
