I have an acquaintance who is single and never learned to cook properly. They normally just eat out or buy frozen meals. Apparently, they don't even own measuring cups or for a while a proper pan, only a pot. Because of this, when they wanted to make pancakes they would make them in the one pot that they owned, except since they didn't have measuring cups, they'd just guestimate the ingredients and throw it in the pot and hope for the best. They told me that they call this concoction, "pancake soup." And that it is of the consistency of mashed potatoes, and that yes they eat it with syrup, and that it is indeed tasty. Naturally, I was shocked and appalled at this revelation. The acquaintance on the other hand thought that "pancake soup" was the most normal thing in the world. I will be buying them a set of measuring cups next time I visit them.
