Taking the buy out would be an emotional decision.
Taking the game is the logical one. We may or may not ever play Notre Dame again - but I'd prefer to remain on good terms with them.

Notre Dame was either going to pay the buyout or do this. BYU took the better option. They were not coming to Provo.

BYU didn't "need" Notre Dame for 2022. They could have just as easily found someone else and the rest of the schedule

Of course. It's ridiculous what we did to get that extra game. Should have just forced them to pay us.
