Sitake has said he trusts the defensive coaches to run the defense. He then came out in spring of 2020 and said they have to get more aggressive and put pressure on the defense. Oh and that is what he said his team would be when he was hired. A strong aggressive defense that puts pressure on the QB.
Sitake's problem is too much trust in Tuiaki. But you would know that if you were paying attention.

FWIW, Tuiaki said they did a lot of analytical research on things which actually matter with defensive play

Preventing big plays is the primary goal of the system because those hurt you more than anything else.

I didn't hear anything that lead me to believe that the research was just done this year. That is CB echo chamber.
